WHY USE AN AGENCY?

Finding a nanny, or finding a nanny job, can entail endless hours of searching, scrolling, and messaging. Poppins takes care of the upfront work and delivers serious candidates and positions only. There is security and safety in having an agency and a well-written Family Nanny Work Agreement on your side.

WILL YOU HELP US CREATE A NANNY CONTRACT FOR OUR FAMILY?

After you pick the perfect nanny for your family, Rochester Poppins will work with you to develop a work agreement between you and your nanny. This contract will include everything you need to ensure a happy placement where both parties can feel safe knowing that they are on the same page.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NANNY AND A BABYSITTER?

A nanny is a well-educated and experienced childcare professional. Nannies are invested in the long-term well-being and development of the children in their care. A nanny becomes a deeply connected part of the family and for most, being a nanny is a professional calling.

Babysitters are usually only employed as needed, can have less professional experience and education, and perform basic child-minding and entertainment.

ARE THE NANNIES MATCHED BY MINNEAPOLIS POPPINS EMPLOYED BY THE AGENCY?

Minneapolis Poppins acts as the matchmaker between families and nannies. The nanny will be employed directly by your family as a household employee. Minneapolis Poppins is happy to help guide you through nanny tax questions and provide trusted recommendations for payroll services used by many of our families.

DOES POPPINS REQUIRE THEIR NANNIES TO BE COVID VACCINATED?

We recognize that people have different opinions about mandated vaccinations. We do not require our nannies to be vaccinated for COVID. However, we do ask about and record vaccination status with the nanny’s consent, so we can consider it when matching nannies with families who have specific preferences. We handle this information confidentially and respect privacy. Disclosure is completely voluntary, and we do not discriminate based on vaccination status unless required by law or requested by the family.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT NANNY TAXES?

Poppins is happily partnered with Poppins Payroll as of 2023!

Contact us to receive your promo code for our exclusive offer.

A nanny is considered a household employee, and you are required to issue a W-2 form at the end of the year. Minneapolis Poppins does not handle nanny taxes directly, but we’re happy to connect you with our partner, Poppins Payroll, if you’d like assistance. Some families prefer to manage taxes on their own or work with their business or family accountant. Whatever you decide, we can recommend the easiest and most affordable options. Also, don’t forget that you may be eligible for a childcare tax credit when you pay a nanny.

The matching process can take anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks. How quickly the process goes depends on multiple factors including contract length, family needs, pay, and how quickly interviews can be arranged.

FAQ: FAQ

At Minneapolis Poppins, we work only with experienced and professional nannies. Because nannying is a primary job, we believe it’s important to pay a living wage that reflects their skills and dedication. Each nanny’s rate is agreed upon based on their education, experience, and the job requirements. We recommend starting at no less than $24 per hour to ensure quality care for your family.
